# Can a sex offense conviction be expunged in Rhode Island?

Most felony sex offense convictions in Rhode Island cannot be expunged under current law. Crimes of violence including first-degree and second-degree sexual assault, and offenses against children, are categorically excluded from expungement eligibility.
